A Bit of History
The thousands of Jewish communal service organizations throughout the world were always inter-dependent - what affected one had implications for all. Career professionals in the field have long understood this. In 1967, in order to expedite the exchange of ideas among Jewish communal workers, the first International Conference of Jewish Communal Service was held in a newly united Jerusalem. The Conference, which became a quadrennial event, was transformed into the World Council of Jewish Communal Service (WCJCS) in 1994.
Since then, three additional Quadrennial conferences were held in Jerusalem: 1998, 2003 and most recently in June 2007. Our next Quadrennial conference is planned for 2011.
Our Mission
The World Council of Jewish Communal Service is a non-political, non-governmental organization of Jewish communal workers engaged in a variety of communal, educational and social services devoted to strengthening Jewish life and community both in Israel and the Diaspora. Our mission is to provide a vehicle for addressing world-wide Jewish concerns as well as to stimulate the professional-to-professional connection among individuals working on behalf of the Jewish community throughout the world.
There is no other organization like us. From Argentina to the Former Soviet Union, from North America to Europe, to Israel, wherever Jewish communal professionals are engaged, we serve as the Jewish professional`s resource for the exchange of ideas, knowledge and experience.

5. Leadership training programs and professional interchange will be established;
