The North American Association of Synagogue Executives (NAASE) is beginning the selection process for its 2005 NAASE Synagogue Intern. The NAASE Internship Program is an annual program that each year grants an internship to one school of Jewish Communal Service student who is interested in the field of synagogue administration.
The $3,000 internship is divided between a $1,500 stipend and $1,500 towards attendance at the NAASE Annual Conference.
Interns will work closely with a local synagogue executive director on a project or on an area of mutual interest.

"NETWORKING PARENTS" - A JCSA INITIATIVE
Are you are a Jewish communal professional, currently at home with your
children full or part-time? Do you want to stay connected to the Jewish
communal world and meet other professionals who are also currently taking
care of a little one?
Networking Parents, under the auspices of the Jewish Communal Service
Association, seeks to do just this. Started in the fall of 2003, we are a diverse group of people, both by career area and geographically. There are development pros, rabbis, social workers, people in marketing and consulting. We hail from California to Chicago to New York.
A working list of goals for Networking Parents is:
- Networking
- Continuing professional growth and keeping up to date on hot topics in the field
- Supporting one another
- Sharing resources
- Studying Jewish texts and discussing articles together
- Advocating and educating to advance family-friendly policies in the Jewish workplace.
We have had three conference calls so far. Our last call had Ms. Barb Zelonky as our guest speaker; She is a Jewish communal professional who worked off and on while her kids were little and then returned to work full time about a year ago, and who shared her experiences with call attendees.
If you would like to join future calls and be included on our list serv,
please send an email to Networkingparents-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
If you have any questions, please contact: Beth Finger at curlyfamily@hotmail.com.
For professionals wishing to organize a "Networking Parents" program in their region, please contact Brenda Gevertz at brenda@jcsana.org for programmatic assistance. All new groups would also have to create their own
listserv group within their region.
