The World Council of Jewish Communal Service seeks to strengthen the world's Jewish community by providing a vehicle for addressing worldwide Jewish concerns and by stimulating the professional-to-professional connection among individuals working on behalf of the Jewish community throughout the world. In so doing, the World Council seeks to enhance Jewish communal professional practice throughout the Jewish world and promote the sense of a worldwide Jewish communal service profession.
Serving our purpose of connecting Jewish communal professionals around the world, the WCJCS holds a Seminar in Jerusalem every June, dealing with matters concerning Jewish Communal Service in Israel and abroad. We also hold Regional Seminars in Latin America, Europe and the United States. In addition, we work towards connecting Jewish professionals through our Website and other technological tools.
Our greatest activity is a conference held every few years in Jerusalem. Our most recent one, "Professional Leadership Responds to Crises in Israel and Jewish Communities Worldwide", was a successful conference held in Jerusalem between 12-16 November 2003, attended by over 550 Jewish professionals from twenty countries. Our next conference is planned for the summer of 2007.
