U.S. & Canadian Government Sources  
 
In North America and elsewhere, government agencies are often the principle sources of support for many NPOs, whose work is understood to be in the public interest. Government funding is often in the form of grants and contracts for service.
 
Canada 's Charity Village
The Village site features a " Main Street" leading in the direction of either: Federal and Provincial government ministries agencies and programs; or to Canada's rich and diverse nonprofit sector.
 
FirstGov
FirstGov is the U.S. Government's official web portal of resources for nonprofits, including sections on grants and loans, fundraising and outreach, and links dealing with relevant laws, tax information and licensing.
 
Federal Government Resources
The University of Michigan Document Center provides an easy-to-use directory of Federal Government Resources with links to sites that describe grants available, grants awarded, indexes of eligibility, contracts available and awarded, an lists of federal and state auctions.
 
StateLocalGov.net

The State and Local Government Internet directory provides one-stop access to the websites of thousands of state agencies and city and county governments.


 
GrantsNet

GrantsNet, a service of the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, is used to find and exchange information about Federal grant programs in relevant fields.
