WCJCS/JCRC-NY/JICC International Webinar, January 21, 2009

"Red Alert – Responding to Trauma: Helping Israeli Civilians Cope with the Pain of War"

This timely webinar was a special interactive opportunity to learn from and discuss with colleagues in Israel current efforts to respond to the needs of communities under fire in southern Israel.

The presentations were given by:

Talia Levanon – Director, Israel Trauma Coalition
Baruch Sugarman – Director, Community Work Service, Ministry of Social Affairs & Social Services
Chen Abrahams – Director of Resource Development, Gvanim Association

There was diverse participation by professionals from throughout North America, Israel, France, South Africa, and Cameroon and the webinar served as an effective tool for sharing ideas between colleagues across the globe.

This webinar was the WCJCS' initial collaboration with the New York/Jerusalem Experts Exchange which brings together professionals from Israel, New York and around the world, who work in the fields of diversity, coalition building, community organizing, and dialogue. The project is facilitated by Cause-NY (of the JCRC-NY) and its strategic partner The Jerusalem Inter-Cultural Center. The program is funded by UJA-Federation of New York and the Jewish Agency for Israel.

As part of this exchange, the partners jointly facilitate a series of webinars on topics that are of interest to a specific community of activists globally.
Previous series were on issues such as cultural competence in health, cultural competence at the workplace, community resilience and more.
